Food Testing Capabilities

Garden State Laboratories has a wide range of food testing capabilities.  Starting in 1943 with dairy bacteriology and soon expanding to other foods and waters, Garden State Labs performs a wide variety of indicator organism and pathogen analyses.

These include:


·       Standard Plate Count

·       Total Coliform Count

·       Salmonella

·       generic E.coli

·       E. coli O157:H7

·       Listeria monocytogenes

·       Staphylococci, coagulase positive

·       Shigella

·       Clostridium perfringens

·       Bacillus cereus

·       Yeast and Mold

·       Surface Swab Bacterial Count

·       Air Bacteria, Yeast and Mold Counts (results per cubic meter or cubic foot)


Our food chemistry analyses are performed both in-house and with collaborating laboratories. Some of these capabilities include:

·       Moisture

·       Pesticides

·       Herbicides

·       Heavy Metals

·       Protein, Carbohydrates and Nutritional Labeling Analyses can be performed by collaborating laboratories as a service to our clients.
