The State of New Jersey has proposed setting 5 parts per billion as the Maximum Contaminant Level for perchlorate in drinking water. The proposed reporting limit is 3 ppb. This NJDEP proposal is published in the March 16, 2009 New Jersey Register.
The perchlorate MCL will be applicable to both public and private water systems. Testing will be required for public water systems and in the Private Well Testing Act.
Garden State Laboratories, Inc. is one of
the few labs in New Jersey certified by the NJDEP for perchlorate analysis. We
are certified for USEPA Method 314.0 and our reporting limit is 2 ppb.
To help you stay on top of
the Proposed Perchlorate Regulations, Garden State Labs has set up a Twitter
account, WaterTests for rapidly distributing information about perchlorate and other
water regulations. There is no charge
for following the WaterTests twitter account. If you do not have a
Twitter account you can set one up at no charge. As we get perchlorate
info we will tweet it with appropriate links.
